Sometimes referred to as an electrician, ETO’s are generally employed on ship or yacht, where the engineering staff comprises of roughly four or five employees. If there is no designated ETO on board, the engineers will be responsible for all ETO jobs. However, most large ships and yachts are now carrying at least one ETO on board, with the largest yachts and big megaships reportedly having both a senior and junior ETO to be able to fully manage all the systems on board properly.
